About

Hey there! I’m Laura.

Engineer by day, emotional excavator by night, and most importantly, a mom trying to balance it all (or at least the parts that really matter).

I started my career as a mechanical engineer back in 2019, back before I had to sneak in pump breaks between meetings or juggle naptimes with deadlines. I became a Chartered Engineer in 2023, sandwiched somewhere between two high-risk pregnancies, sleepless nights, and growing into a version of myself I never saw coming.

I met my husband, Tony, on Tinder in 2016 (proof that it can work!), and after buying our first home together, we got married just before the world shut down for COVID. We became parents to Oliver in 2022, and welcomed our daughter, Elianna, in 2024.

These days, I’m navigating the beautiful chaos of raising two little ones while building a career, pursuing creative projects, and breaking generational cycles one day at a time.

My parenting style leans gentle and attachment-based, but I’m also human. I’ve had the not-so-proud moments, the snaps, the guilt, the questioning whether I’m doing any of this right. Being a working mom means constantly walking the line between presence and survival. And I know I’m not alone in that.

This blog is my way of sharing the messy middle. I’ve lived through a lot: grief, fertility struggles, high-risk births, domestic violence, and estrangement. And through it all, I’ve found healing in storytelling.

I write to make sense of things. I write to feel less alone. And I write in the hope that someone else reading might feel seen in their own hard season.

Thanks for being here. Truly.

  1. Hi Laura,

I stumbled across your profile / Instagram via Lite n’ Easy “regramming” your post. I love how you are journaling your experiences & documenting it. Very interesting. I am doing Lite n’ Easy myself for the 2nd time. It’s great to see how other people go about it. Good luck with your weight loss / healthy journey. Can’t wait to see more posts
